Screen-Shot-2014-10-06-at-3.15.38-PM-550x500Sarah has always had a passion for athletics and coaching. Through high school and college, she competed in gymnastics, swimming, pole vaulting, and crew. After college, she began running marathons and doing yoga. Her love across a wide range of sport and movement is what initially drew her to CrossFit in 2010. Sarah graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2010, with a BSB in Marketing and a Coaching Certificate and Minor from the School of Kinesiology. Six months out of school, she started her own company called Rock Your Block that helps youth find jobs, all while continuing to build her coaching and teaching career. Sarah earned her USATF Level 1 Track and Field Coaching Certificate in 2010, and coached high school pole vault and high jump for four years.  She went on to complete her USATF Level 2 with specialization in the jumps in 2013. In the fall of 2013, Sarah decided to move to San Francisco to expand her company. She found LaLanne Fitness CrossFit within a couple weeks of moving and knew immediately that she wanted to be a part of the awesome community and become a coach. Sarah earned her Level 1 CrossFit Trainer Certificate in December 2013. Sarah also currently teaches yoga, spin, and barre classes at different studios and gyms throughout the city.

Erica Cruz

I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I have been an athlete all of my life competing in many sports such as baseball, basketball, volleyball and Taekwondo. I have always possessed a very competitive spirit, highly motivated and determined to succeed against all odds. My passion for fitness is fueled by my overall desire for health and wellness as well as the desire to find the physical limits of the body. Being a small petite girl the natural physical ability has always been an issue but I strived to prove otherwise. In 2008 I started Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai and Wrestling for a new exciting physical challenge. I quickly became addicted to the sport and was naturally good at it. I began competing in MMA and Jiu Jitsu tournaments with great success. In 2012 I was sidelined by a knee injury that resulted in surgery and evidently led me to CrossFit. CrossFit was recommended through physical therapy as a way to rehab my knee, learn proper mechanics and build leg strength to support the injury.

Soon after beginning CrossFit I became addicted. My life became all about the sport of fitness and I was eager to learn more. Thankfully through LaLanne Fitness Crossfit I was able to receive my CrossFit Level 1 certification and train with amazing athletes. My goal is to learn as many techniques and teaching skills to help every student learn the best they can. I love to encourage and motivate athletes to go above and beyond their expectations all the while remaining safe and having fun.

My goals as a coach are to become USA Weightlifting Certified, attend as many CrossFit certification courses available and lead by example as an athlete in future CrossFit competitions. I look forward to learning, teaching and growing as a coach and an athlete with the LaLanne Fitness CrossFit family.
